How it Works
-
Consultation
First, we’ll chat with you via phone or video to discuss your goals, preferences, and the scope of your project (e.g., organization, digitization, metadata tagging, etc.). Consultations are complimentary and last between fifteen and thirty minutes.
-
Hunt and Gather
The next step is for you to gather all the photographs (and maybe ephemera, too) that you’d like included in the photo organizing project.
Pickup / Transfer
Next, we’ll collect your physical and/or digital photos, either in person, by mail, or digitally, ensuring a secure transfer.
Assessment
As a final first step, we’ll review your collection to understand its size and condition, then create a plan for managing your project.
-
Decluttering
We’ll go through your photos, eliminating duplicates, blurry photos, or irrelevant images, according to an accepted standard.
Categorization
Photos will be organized based on the agreed system(s), such as by date (year-month-day), event (weddings, birthdays), or theme (e.g., family vacations, holidays, anniversaries) or a combination of these themes.
Rehousing
If you like, will rehouse your physical prints into archival grade sleeves and boxes. (We can also rehouse photos in scrapbooks and albums.)
-
Photo Digitization (if desired)
We’ll scan any prints, negatives, or slides and integrate them into the digital collection.
Metadata Tagging
Next, we’ll add information such as dates, names, locations, and other relevant details to each photo to make them easily searchable.
Editing and Restoration (if desired)
Lastly, we can enhance image quality and/or restore damaged photos.
-
Final Review: We’ll provide you with your organized collection, either digitally or in physical format (e.g., albums or drives), and review the system with you.
Education: We’ll show you how to maintain and update the system, ensuring you can manage new photos and safeguard your collection going forward.
